My name is George Teston, and I did not start my career behind a desk designing software.

I started as an installer in the low-voltage data center industry, working hands-on with the infrastructure that makes these facilities operate. As my career progressed, I moved into the management and quality side of the industry.

As a Quality Engineer, I began seeing gaps that were not always obvious when looking at one individual task: gaps in communication, workflow, accountability, tracking, and the way information moved between teams.

The questions that shaped the platform

I kept finding myself asking questions that should have been simple:

  • What happened on day shift, and what does night shift need to know?
  • What work is actually ready for inspection?
  • Which issues are still open, which are past due, and which ones keep coming back?
  • What is our headcount today?
  • Where are we in the construction schedule?
  • What have we accomplished so far?
  • What needs to happen next to hit our PR dates and complete the project on time?

And ultimately: what is the overall health of the building? Those questions became the foundation of Field Quality OS.

Every feature has a reason

Field Quality OS was not created from a list of features. Every feature exists because there was a real problem behind it.

Shift Handoff came from needing better continuity between day and night shifts. Pre-Inspection and Field Work came from wanting to identify problems before they became formal quality issues. Issue Tracking came from needing to understand not only how many issues existed, but where they were happening, what was past due, what had been completed, what had been closed, and what kept coming back.

Labor Tracking started with a simple question: how many people are actually on site today? Production tracking came from wanting to create a road map of the building: understanding where construction stands, what is already complete, what is next, and whether the team is on track to reach critical project dates.

Eventually, I realized these were not separate problems. They were all connected.

Seeing the entire system

I have been fortunate to experience the data center industry from several different perspectives. I have worked with ENS, performing audits, break/fix work, troubleshooting circuit connections, and debugging problems at the rack level. I have worked on the installation side, helping build the physical cabling infrastructure connecting equipment from rack to rack and data hall to data hall.

My OSP background gave me a broader perspective: understanding how rooms connect, how infrastructure travels throughout a facility, and how one building ultimately connects to another. Working in Quality added another opportunity to learn more about the design, engineering, construction, and overall lifecycle of a data center project.

The more I learned, the more I realized something important: a data center is not just connections. Behind every connection are people. Someone designed it, planned it, installed it, inspected it, tested it, manages it, and ultimately depends on it.

Why I created Field Quality OS

The more I understood how everything connected, the more I believed our tools should connect everything too. Field Quality OS brings together people, quality, production, labor, communication, documentation, issues, and physical infrastructure into one connected environment.

Not simply to collect more information, but to make that information useful. I want someone to open Field Quality OS and quickly understand where we are, what happened, what is happening now, where the problems are, what has been accomplished, what needs to happen next, and whether we are on track.
